"A ship in harbor is safe,
but that is not what ships are built for."
- John A. Shedd
This is a gallery-quality paper print of Mae's original painting "In Harbor", which was created by hand using my own photography, acrylic paint, vintage paper and collage techniques. It is printed on high quality fine art paper, with a thin white border around the edges to ensure none of the image is covered up when matted or framed, and lightly titled and signed on the back.

Mae Chevrette is inspired by travel, adventure, nature and history. Her unique mixed media artwork combines her own photography with layers of acrylic paint, ink, hand-lettering and vintage paper such as old letters, envelopes, maps, postcards and other relevant ephemera. All of these elements are pieced together by hand on canvas using traditional and experimental collage techniques, creating vivid contemporary paintings with a vintage feel and tangible depth and texture.
She was born and raised in Seattle, Washington, where exploring the rocky shores and lush forests of the Pacific Northwest helped instill a love of adventure and the outdoors. Her main source of inspiration is her solo travels across the United States, which have led her to backcountry camping in white sand dunes and desert mesas, hiking through dry slot canyons and lush coastal ravines, and exploring tiny towns from Maine to Oregon. Back in her studio, she pieces together photographs and ephemera from her travels, creating a unique style of mixed media art that aims to capture the eye of adventure-lovers.
