Life Happens Sometimes...

This is going to be a real, raw, and honest blog post which I've never done before. If you've been following me on social media the last few years, I'm sure you have felt that something just wasn't right. My business and myself personally have been going through a bunch of changes the last few years behind the scenes that you don't get a chance to see. I don't ever call attention to things that affect my small business or myself in a negative way. I'm usually a positive and optimistic person who only wants to put out good vibes. I love sharing when good things happen. If bad things happen, I never shine a light on it. 

I got divorced from a person that I never should of been married to. It happens. I can't change the past, I can only move forward and make better decisions. When two people get divorced, things such as living situations change. I bought a house in Minot Maine. The housing market at the moment is crazy and I only had a few things on my checklist when it came to buying a new home. It needed to be on at least 2 acres of land. I needed the house to be cheap and simple to maintain. It also needed to be an hour away from Portland in case I ever need to go to back to my accounting roots. That was pretty much my new home checklist. I found this house and it's in my favorite color blue which I like. I've been living here for over 2 weeks now. It doesn't quite feel like home yet, but I know if I give it enough time it will soon enough. 

You have all been so patient with me in the last five years of my business. I moved my business from a studio space next to the Bridgeway Restaurant to my first retail storefront on Ocean Street in Knightville.  After a year the shop became so crowded and popular that I needed to find a bigger space. I ended up finding a perfect space on Market Street in the Old Port. I was there for a couple of years and then COVID happened. The city put restrictions on my business, I could only allow 5 people in my shop at a time which included employees. So I did the math and after including myself and one employee, I was only allowed 3 customers in the shop at a time which I knew wouldn't work to sustain the shop. I closed my shop and brought my business to my house and operated out of there.  You were all so wonderful supporting my online shop and it kept me very busy for 2020 and 2021. Online shopping has literally hit a record high at the moment. We are now currently in 2022 and it was a slow start to the year. I wasn't really sure what was going to happen. The last couple of months have been record breaking for me and I'm so thankful for all of your orders. Thank you so much for supporting my small business!

I've had 4 different business addresses in the last 5 years and I know how that looks. I bought a house, this is my home base and it's going to be my home base for a little while. I don't think I will ever have another retail storefront. I'm trying to keep it simple and easy at the moment. I have one of the largest sand collections in the entire world, but I no longer live on the ocean. I like living in the country. I walk everyday along Lake Auburn and it's so peaceful and serene. Beachdashery is growing and launching a sister company. I'm calling it Forestdashery. Instead of beach sand, you can purchase jewelry with pine needles in it or wildflowers or any "nature scraps" that you would find in the woods. I'm launching it soon, not sure about an official "launch date" yet. I want it to be perfect. I'm hoping for June 1st which should work. 

You all now know everything going on with me at the moment. This is as real and as honest as I can be. Life isn't perfect and it doesn't turn out the way you want it to sometimes. I had to make some changes which enabled me and my business to move forward. I'm now 100% in control of what happens to my business right now.
